What should I read next?
What movies are worth watching? How do I avoid the rut of listening to the same old songs for the rest of my life?
Those are the questions I’m trying to answer for myself with this podcast. The best way I’ve come up with is to ask a broad array of people a few things: What is your favorite book? What is your favorite song? What is your favorite movie? What is the average air speed velocity of a laden swallow?
Putting aside that last question, I realize ‘favorite’ is a loaded term. Why should I have only one favorite, or any favorite at all? What if my favorite changes with my mood or circumstances? What if I have a different favorite for each aspect of my personality?
For fuck’s sake, Chidi Anagonye, just pick one! Any book, song or movie that’s even in the running for your all-time favorite is worth talking about. What do you find in those pages, hear in those notes, see on that screen that speaks to you? What impact have these pieces of art had on your life? Why should other people give it a read, a listen, a watch?
Let’s talk about your favorite book, song and movie.
